Prior to this week, I really didn't know what to expect from the "EPL experience". I thought that it'd be just like any other camp. Well, it is, in the sense that you eat, sleep, and play on campus. But, what differentiates the Furman Emerging Public Leaders program from other camps is, in essence, the experience that you gain. This camp has exposed me to different opinions about public policy, ethics, and even environmental issues. I've been able to go on a firsthand tour of some of the worst areas of Greenville that resemble life in third-world countries. Overall, I've really enjoyed the experience thus far, and I'm glad I chose to spend a week of my summer here at Furman.
